LIEUTENANT COMMANDER (Ret) JAMES A (AL) TRUHETT UNITED STATES NAVY
LCDR Truhett, a native of White Hall, Arkansas, retired from active duty August 15, 2008. He completed Recruit training at RTC San Diego, CA, Submarine school in Groton, CT and Missile Technician training at Naval Guided Missiles School Dam Neck VA. During his career he served onboard the USS Lewis and Clark, SSBN 644, Gold crew, USS Tecumseh, SSBN 628, Gold crew, USS Francis Scott Key, SSBN 657, Blue crew, USS Oliver Hazard Perry FFG-7, USS Georgia, SSBN 729, Gold crew and as Weapons Officer onboard USS OHIO SSGN 726. LCDR Truhett’s last assignment was on the staff of the Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters. LCDR Truhett’s military awards include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, seven Navy Commendation Medals, five Navy Achievement Medals, a Meritorious Unit Commendation ribbon, the Battle “E” ribbon, four Navy Good Conduct Medals , two National Defense Medals, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Sea Service ribbon (6), Expert Rifle Medal and Expert Pistol Medal.
Civilian career started at Strategic Systems Programs as Nuclear Weapons Technical Inspection lead in SP11 until May 2009. In May 2009 Al moved to SP201 as the Head of Technical Evaluations and Assessments. In June of 2015 Al transitioned to his current position in OPNAV N97.
